Maintaining cooperation with local milk suppliers

At Polica pri Naklem in Slovenia we organized the 7th meeting with milk suppliers, where we awarded the producers who supplied the largest amount of milk to the dairy, and those producers who supplied the milk of the best quality. On this occasion, we also informed the suppliers that despite the change in the ownership structure we will preserve the tradition of purchasing milk from Slovenian producers.

For several years now, we have been trying to maintain good relations with our suppliers. Only last year we purchased 183 million litres of milk from 2400 producers from 41 Slovenian agricultural cooperatives and processed it into various dairy products.

»Last year, we fully accomplished one of our missions: to acquire and purchase milk across Slovenia on a daily basis. In total, we purchased 183 million litres of milk of the highest quality. In the meantime, Ljubljanske mlekarne got a new owner. Together with our milk suppliers we have taken a new path, on which we will put an even greater effort in maintaining long-term and quality business relations with Slovenian milk producers with the common goal of mutual progress and development. The dimensions of the new business environment will enable us a stable and long-lasting common business journey,« said Slavko Peklaj, Procurement Sector Executive Director at Ljubljanske mlekarne, in his address.

After his speech, guests were addressed by Cvetana Rijavec, President of the Board Management of Ljubljanske mlekarne: »This spring, Ljubljanske mlekarne saw the conclusion of a long-lasting process of selling the company. With the acquisition of the company we have become a member of the great French family-owned dairy group Lactalis. I expect that the new owners will fulfil their promises and that they will keep developing Ljubljanske mlekarne, thus reinforcing the position of Ljubljanske mlekarne as the major purchaser of raw milk and provider of milk and dairy products in Slovenia. Milk purchasing is one of the fundamental pillars of the Lactalis Group business operations, which pays special attention to purchasing milk from local suppliers

In the official part of the meeting the producers were also given awards, as in all previous years.

Producers who supplied the highest quantity of milk in the quota year 2012/2013:
1. Romana and Anton Koren from Brestanica: 998,699 litres,
2. Jernej Strašek from Straža pri Novem mestu: 935,790 litres,
3. Franc Pleteršek from Starše: 858,065 litres.

Producers who supplied milk of the highest quality in the quota year 2012/2013:
1. Zlatka Rihter from Gornji grad,
2. Ivan Lep from Selnica ob Dravi,
3. Franc Trebušak from Čemšenik.

We sincerely congratulate all producers and wish for a successful cooperation in the future years also!
